Simon Fraser Bridge (Prince George)

Project Dates: December 2007 through August 20th, 2009
Duration: 21 months
Cranes: Liebherr LR1280 300ton Crawler; Demag CC1500 300ton Crawler; Terex-American HC110 110ton Crawler; Terex RT665 65ton Rough Terrain; Tadano TR300 30ton Rough Terrain
Loads: Extreme hoisting of 420,000lb 4-girder lift using two 300ton cranes; installation of 4.5million lbs of steel.

Difficulties: Erection of the Delta Legs – tandem lifts using both 300ton crawler cranes; installation of the center-span required both massive cranes and incredibly sharp accuracy in placement, within 1/16th of an inch!

The project consisted of the construction of one 400 meter long two lane highway bridge over the Simon Fraser River, including a work-bridge capable of supporting two 300ton crawlers, and the beams and girders being installed. Work included the installation of both steel pipe†and sheet piles.  The project involved approximately 4.5million lbs of steel erected over 6 months, with machines and men working in extremely low temperatures and dealing with the issues that arise with working in extreme environments.

Conclusion: When a client requires an intense work path with the highest demands for productivity – DLB Cranes can be counted upon to deliver.
